Champions for Kids tickets go on sale

Tickets are now available for Champions For The Kids, a special two-day-fund-raiser to benefit attorney Norman Yatooma’s Foundation For The Kids.

Michigan State basketball coach Tom Izzo, Teamster President James Hoffa and other local personalities are among those expected to attend the Champions For The Kids VIP Dinner & Auction at the Townsend Hotel, 5 p.m. Sunday, June 8. Tickets are available for $250 and attire will be black-tie optional.

On Monday, June 9, the Foundation will hold its Golf Tournament, beginning at 8 a.m. with breakfast and a WJR Paul W. Smith Live Broadcast at Oakland Hills Country Club, home of the 2008 PGA Championship. Foursomes begin at $3500. Attendees will include sports Hall of Famers and student athletes from the University of Michigan and Michigan State University.

All proceeds from this two-day event will go directly to grieving families through Yatooma’s Foundation For The Kids.

Yatooma started this non-profit organization in his father’s honor to help children overcome the challenges that they face with the painful loss of a parent. The Foundation provides a full spectrum of assistance including financial advice, help in the home, counseling, and support services.

“Though there are many charities that help children, no other charity has tailored its assistance to this specific group of children,” Yatooma said. “Children who hugged their parents one day and had to bury them the next.”
