Witness Talks to Media About Greene
A witness who says he spoke with a stripper the night of the alleged wild Manoogian Mansion party will talked to the media Thursday.
Lt. Michael Kearns who is an EMS Supervisor with the Detroit Fire Department will be at his attorney’s office to answer questions from the media about statements he made in a court filing earlier this month.
Attorney Norman Yatooma called the press conference at his Birmingham offices. Yatooma represents the family of Tamara Greene, who was murdered in Detroit in 2003. They are suing the City of Detroit, Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and the chief of police for allegedly thwarting the investigation into Greene’s death. Kearn’s affidavit was filed in the case.
Kearns said he signed an affidavit that he responded to a run to at a gas station at Jefferson and Conner for a woman who had been assaulted. When he got there two female plain-clothed Detroit Police Officers were speaking to the woman, who had swelling over her left eye and was “very upset and emotional.”
“The female spoke rapidly at first, saying her and her friend were dancing at a party at the Manoogian Mansion and that the Mayor’s wife, Carlita Kilpatrick, threw a fit, hit her and the other dancer, then kicked them out of the house,” according to Kearns’ affidavit.
Kearns also said he asked for the woman’s name, and she said it is “Tammy Greene,” and she was a dancer at a place called “The Grind.”
The plain-clothed officers were taking notes of Greene’s statement and then an EMS unit arrived and took Greene to the hospital.
Kearns also states in his affidavit that he gave a verbal report to his unit and that he did not come forward sooner because at first he didn’t believe her, and “forgot about the run not long after it happened.”
Kearns said about a month later he connected Greene to rumors about the alleged party at the mayor’s mansion and spoke to a lieutenant in Detroit’s homicide division.
