WJR and MSU kick-off partnership with benefit golf tournament

DETROIT – Michigan State University and News/Talk 760 WJR radio are officially launching their new partnership by joining forces to present a special golf event to benefit the For The Kids Foundation, a nonprofit organization.

Registration has already begun for this event, which will join MSU coaches Tom Izzo, Joanne P. McCallie and John L. Smith, and WJR at the Coaches For The Kids Golf Tournament set for July 9-10 at Oakland Hills Golf and Country Club.

All funds raised through this two-day event will go directly to those in need through the For The Kids Foundation. The tournament begins with a VIP dinner and auction Sunday, July 9, followed by a day of golf at the world-renowned golf course on Monday, July 10.

Founded by Norman Yatooma on Father’s Day 2003, For The Kids Foundation was inspired by memories of the overwhelming grief, financial pressure and insecurities that he and his three younger brothers suffered as a result of their father’s tragic murder. The eldest of four siblings, Yatooma started this organization to help children overcome the same challenges through services including financial advice, help in the home and counseling and support services.

“It is a privilege and an honor to be able to begin our new relationship by supporting this great cause together to benefit these children in need,” said WJR President and General Manager Mike Fezzey and MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon. “We look forward to this outstanding and memorable annual event.”

The partnership between MSU and WJR was announced in October.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available. For registration and sponsorship information, call (888) 987-KIDS or visit http://www.wjr.com or http://www.forthekidsfoundation.org
