Cops File Motion to Prevent Testifying Greene’s Attorney Says It’s A Cover – up

Three Michigan State police officers are trying to avoid testifying in a federal lawsuit filed against the city of Detroit by the family of Tamara Greene.

Detectives Curt Schram, John Figurski and Mark Krebs filed motions late Thursday afternoon in U.S. District Court asking that they not be required to testify because the case is still open.

“I think this Mike Cox just making an effort to cover his tail. He’s trying to cover up his urban legend in my view,” says Greene’s family attorney Norman Yatooma.

Yatooma is representing Greene’s family in the suit which claims city leaders, including former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick sabotaged the investigation into Greene’s murder.

Greene, who has been tied to the rumored party was killed in a drive-by shooting in April of 2003.

All three detectives were looking into the case until Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox closed the investigation.

Now, it’s up to a judge to determine if the three detectives who led the initial investigation will have to testify.

Yatooma believes their request is a plot to slow down and hamper the case.

“It was delay and obstruction that was the impetus for the case in the first place why should we expect anything different now. If not for delay and obstruction we would already know who was Tammy’s killer. I would be foolish not expect obstruction and delay now,” says Yatooma.

Yatooma said if a judge grants their request it would be a minor setback because there is still a long list of people who will talk.

A judge is expected make a decision in the coming weeks.
