Livonia UPS gives $5,000 to Yatooma’s Foundation

Yatooma’s Foundation For The Kids received a $5,000 grant from The UPS Foundation, the charitable arm of UPS, through the Livonia UPS branch.

The grant goes to providing financial literacy programs to families who have lost a parent.

Statistics show, on average, the loss of a parent means a $20,000-$30,000 loss of annual income. For many families, the surviving parent or guardian is left to live on only $19,000-$25,000 in annual income, often with a severe lack of financial reserves. The majority of families served by Yatooma’s Foundation For The Kids report no savings, no life insurance policy and a high debt-to-income ratio.

The grant will be used to fund Yatooma’s Foundation For The Kids’ Adult Financial Literacy and School-age Youth Economic Literacy programs.
