Retired cop to be questioned about Greene

Mike Carlisle, a retired Detroit police detective who has said he knows who killed exotic dancer Tamara Greene, is to be questioned under oath today by lawyers for Greene’s family.

Carlisle, a decorated detective who retired from the force in 2008, previously said he came close to breaking the case. But after digging into Greene’s killing, Carlisle said he had found “no evidence of her dancing” at a rumored but never proved Manoogian Mansion party.

Carlisle’s theory is that Darrett King is the killer. King, 38, known as Little D, is in prison on an unrelated charge for up to 25 years.

Today, attorney Norman Yatooma is to depose Carlisle with city lawyers present. Yatooma represents Greene’s family in a federal lawsuit against the City of Detroit and various officials, including ex-Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, claiming they thwarted an investigation into Greene’s unsolved 2003 killing.

Greene, nicknamed Strawberry, was gunned down April 30, 2003, at 3:45 a.m. while sitting in her parked Buick Skylark at Roselawn and West Outer Drive.

On Tuesday, Yatooma deposed former Detroit Police Officer Paytra Williams, who moonlighted as a stripper and was rumored to have danced at the party.
