Tamara Greene Case Files Wanted by News Media
Lawyers representing Detroit-area news media are asking a judge for access to sealed documents in a civil lawsuit tied to the unsolved slaying of a exotic dancer Tamara Greene.
U.S. Chief District Judge Gerald Rosen is holding a hearing Wednesday. Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy urges keeping protective measures in place while her office tries to solve the 2003 murder of Greene.
Greene’s family is suing police officials and former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, claiming they stifled the homicide investigation years ago. They deny it.
Detroit Free Press lawyer Herschel Fink says there are many documents that have nothing to do with the murder investigation. They include the deposition of Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox, who investigated rumors of a party hosted by Kilpatrick and called it an “urban legend.”
