WJR personalities lend hand to children’s foundation
Times are tough in Metro Detroit. But, for families who have lost a parent, times are even tougher. That is why Yatooma’s Foundation For The Kids has kicked off its first-ever Annual Giving Campaign, to help more families when they need it most.
Between now and the end of 2008, the Foundation seeks to raise an additional $100,000 through donations from the community. Funds collected will go provide a wide range of support and assistance for kids who have lost a parent including help with food, counseling, transportation and utility bills.
If the Foundation reaches it goal, WJR-AM radio hosts Paul W. Smith and Frank Beckmann have agreed to dress, head-to-toe, in clothing featuring the Foundation’s logo, for an entire week in January, 2009. They would wear custom suits provided by Tom James Clothing Company and Paul Cicchini Custom Clothier, with hats, socks and even shoes featuring the logo. Children served by the Foundation would have the opportunity to create the logos on the suits with their own handprints.
“Paul and Frank are passionate supporters of our cause and they are looking forward to building awareness for the Foundation in this very visual, fun way,” said Michael Fezzey, President and General Manager of WJR, Chair of the Foundation’s Advisory Board and 2008 Annual Fund Campaign Chair.
Additionally, every individual who donates $1000 or more to the Campaign, will receive a $250 gift card toward portrait photography services with Arising Images and will also be entered to win two free tickets to the Foundation’s spectacular Fourth Annual “Champions For The Kids” VIP Dinner and Auction at the Townsend Hotel on Sunday, June 7,2009 and two free tickets to the strolling dinner at Oakland Hills Country Club on Monday, June 8, 2009.
