VIDEO: Detroit Officer Deposed in Greene Case
DETROIT – There was new testimony on Tuesday in the murder of exotic dancer Tamara Greene. A female Detroit Police officer who allegedly moonlighted as a stripper spoke with the attorney representing the Greene family.
The deposition took place inside attorney Marvin Barnett’s office in Detroit. We were not allowed to speak to Paytra Williams, the woman who was being deposed, because a federal judge sealed her testimony, but her attorney did try to clear up what he says are some misconceptions about his client.
“Never at any Manoogian Mansion. Never dancing inside of any Manoogian Mansion at all,” said Barnett.
It was a deposition that could have finally proven a long rumored party at the Manoogian Mansion. In a sworn affidavit, a former sergeant with Detroit Police claimed Williams, another police officer who moonlighted as a stripper, danced alongside Tamara Greene the night of the infamous party and that she also allegedly suffered injuries from the wife of the former mayor, Carlita Kilpatrick, who came home and caught the chaos.
However, her attorney claims none of it is true.
“If she were standing here before you right now, and if you were to ask her if any of those allegations contained within that affidavit, if it were true, she would deny it,” Barnett said.
He could not speak specifically about the sealed deposition taken by attorney Norman Yatooma, who represents the family of Greene and is suing the city and its police department for covering up her murder. Although Barnett denies the claims, Williams’ name has been linked to the party since the beginning.
Sources tell FOX 2 Williams was supposed to submit a polygraph test about the party, but backed out at the last minute and got a lawyer. She also had close ties to Greene.
Retired homicide Detective Mike Carlisle, who investigated the case, tells us both women worked at the All Stars gentlemen’s club on Eight Mile at the same time. Williams was known as “Almond Joy”.
The night Greene was killed, she went to the home of Joe Billingsley to pick up her boyfriend, Eric Mitchell. We are told Billingsley is the father of one of Williams’ children.
We asked Barnett if she admitted to being a police officer by day and moonlighting as a stripper named “Almond Joy” at night. He responded, “That is not true… and I don’t think you can actually do that. I don’t think that you can work as a stripper and be a Detroit Police officer. It would be a conflict.”
Williams has had quite a history with the Detroit Police Department. We have learned she worked in former Chief Jerry Oliver’s office during the Greene murder. She also worked in Kwame Kilpatrick’s Executive Protection Unit and in Vice Squad until 2009 when she was part of the group of police officers busted for falsifying prostitution arrest reports and shacking down club owners.
A spokesman for the department says disciplinary action for Williams is pending, but she has returned to full duty.
We are told that Williams’ deposition will continue after some more discovery, but her testimony will remain sealed.
